8:30 AM - Glacier Point Yosemite Wedding Ceremony
An 8AM Glacier Point Yosemite wedding ceremony is such a dreamy way to start the day. The morning light pours into Yosemite Valley, Half Dome is glowing in the distance, and the views feel absolutely endless. It’s one of the reasons Glacier Point is such a popular spot for couples planning a Yosemite wedding ceremony. One thing many couples don’t realize, though, is how quickly the sun warms things up in the summer. By 8AM it can already start feeling pretty hot out on the overlook. Because of that, I often recommend starting ceremonies earlier in the morning when possible. Not only is the temperature more comfortable, but the light is softer and the area is much quieter before the main crowds arrive, which makes the whole experience feel a lot more intimate and relaxed.

A Unique Yosemite Wedding Timeline: Sunrise & Sunset Coverage
Tamara and Jeff seriously nailed getting the best of both worlds in stunning Yosemite! We caught the golden morning light at sunrise and the sunset just as the sky turned pink and the cliffs glowed. ✨
This magic is all thanks to a "split day" coverage schedule!
We start with a four-hour session for those gorgeous morning shots; I step away and then I come right back for the next four hours of coverage.
This approach offers SO much more variety in your final gallery and gives us plenty of time to explore different breathtaking locations. It is the perfect way to do everything in one day without feeling rushed and while taking in every single moment!

FAQ’S FOR GLACIER & TAFT POINT Wedding Portraits
1. What is the best time for Taft Point photos?
For a truly epic wedding gallery, there is no better time to be at Taft Point than sunset. The way the golden hour light hits the valley is pure magic—it creates a backdrop so breathtaking that photos hardly do it justice. While it does require a bit of a hike, the result is a set of once-in-a-lifetime portraits that you’ll treasure forever. If you’re looking for that "wow" factor for your session, sunset at Taft Point is absolutely the way to go! I mean look at Tamara & Jeff’s gallery above!
2. Can you drive to Taft Point Yosemite?
You can't drive right up to the edge of Taft Point, but that’s all part of the adventure! You’ll need to lace up your boots for a 2.2-mile round-trip hike, and I promise the views at the end are 100% worth the effort!
3. What is the best time for Glacier Point photos?
If you want the ultimate setting for Glacier Point portraits, sunrise is definitely the way to go! As a wedding photographer, I’m a huge believer in hitting this spot first thing in the morning. Here is why it beats every other time of day:
Epic Lighting: You get that soft, romantic "blue hour" glow right before the sun peeks out from behind Half Dome. When it finally does, the valley is flooded with incredible light rays that look absolutely magical in photos.
Total Intimacy: Most tourists don't make it to Glacier Point until later in the morning. Going at sunrise means you won’t have to "photo-hop" around crowds or edit strangers out of your background.
Easier Logistics: Parking at Glacier Point can be a nightmare during the day, but at 5:00 or 6:00 AM, you’ll have your pick of spots.
Split-Day Potential: Starting at sunrise gives you the chance to shoot at Glacier Point, take a midday break to relax, and then head over to Taft Point for a completely different look at sunset! Start planning your Yosemite elopement and share your vision with me here!
