Magical Sunrise Proposal At Taft Point in Yosemite National Park

There’s something undeniably magical about proposing at Taft Point, with its jaw-dropping views and all of Yosemite National Park as your backdrop. It’s no wonder couples are so drawn to this iconic spot!

When Miguel reached out, he wasn’t quite sure where to pop the question, but after chatting through a few spots, we knew that a sunrise proposal at Taft Point was the perfect choice! (Talk about romantic.) As a Yosemite Photographer, I don’t just show up and take pictures -I help plan the whole thing, making sure everything runs smoothly, from lighting to location scouting. I mean, who doesn’t want the most magical lighting for such a special moment?

For Miguel, this meant keeping his proposal under wraps without giving Ale any hints. I even scouted Taft Point at sunrise myself the day prior, tracking how long it would take the sun to rise and checking out the lighting along the trail. I sent Miguel videos of different spots where he could get down on one knee (because, yes, I’m that dedicated!).

But here’s the fun part: Miguel didn’t want Ale to suspect a thing, so I had to blend in. Cue the tourist disguise.. complete with my sister, who tagged along with me to act like we were just casually exploring the trail. We even brought a phone tripod for ultimate tourist vibes!

When the big moment came, Ale was admiring the sunrise view at Taft Point, and Miguel dropped to one knee behind her. The look of surprise and joy on her face was priceless, and capturing that moment in Yosemite National Park? Absolutely unforgettable!

Afterward, we wandered around Taft Point and even made our way to Glacier Point for some gorgeous engagement photos with Half Dome in the background, because why not end an amazing session with an equally amazing view?
